Kate Saxon is a director working in TV, Theatre, Film and Video Games. In 2017, Kate was one of 15 female Film and TV directors chosen for the inaugural BAFTA Elevate group, and was also selected for the Directors UK High End TV Drama Scheme.

Additionally a Cinematic Performance Director for video games, Kate has enjoyed considerable acclaim for her work, with Everybody's Gone To The Rapture (Sony/Chinese Room) a 2016 BAFTA winner and Alien: Isolation (Fox/Creative Assembly) a 2015 BAFTA winner. Kate is also a theatre director, with over 20 years in the industry. Kate began her directing career in Opera, and credits include: L'Equivoco Stravagante (Garsington Opera: Choreographer and Assistant Director); La Boheme (Opera North National Tour: Revival Director) and Das Schlaue Fuchslein (Bregenz Opera: Assistant Director).
We sit down with Kate to discuss how she found her way into directing for screen, having started out in theatre and video game direction.
She explains how she kept actors on track when recording mass lines of dialogue for Witcher 3 so they could re-center their emotions and not let the last line of dialogue influence the way they act the following line, and describes how she decorated the studio with a timeline of all the in-game events to make sense of the story.
